Day XII (June, 20)
Speaking about Children's Rights we can't but say the main point of our discussion is a family life style. Really new generation must be closely connected with the previous generation-their grandparents. There is no Future without Past and that's true. That's why we decided to organize a special meeting for kids. Youth leaders and kids met 60-70 year old ex-students of our gymnasia who told them about their school life and about their school activities. Modern students prepared a concert for the guessts and made an excursion in their native gymnasia. So it was so neccessary to connect students of different years and let them share their own ideas about Children's Rights of different eras.
Day X and Day XI (June, 18, 19)
Sport for everybody!
Day IX (June, 15)
Day VIII (June, 14)
Day VII (June, 13)
Day VI (June,9)
Working on "Children's Rights" programm Russian students discovered lots of new things. Discussing the paragraphs of Children's Rights Convention young learners made a list of the most important rights for them, for their age and found out if their peers thought the same or not. Today Russin students decided to make debates about a necessity to know children's rights. It was a business game like a simulator where a team of children said they had to know all their right clearly and tried to prove it but their opponents - teachers tried to assert the situation in Russia wasn't a problematic and we shouldn't share the ideas of Children's Rights everywhere. Of course, all the adults didn't really think so, but we just wanted to artificially simulate the situation when 10-13 year old children could express their thoughts and problem solving ideas clearly and more over had an opportunity to make a team desicion. So that game was also a great example of teambuiling! No doubt youth leaders team was a winner and later we celebrated it with tasty cakes and tea in a school canteen)))
Day V (June, 8)
After a hard day we decided to spend time in a gym. Russian sport teams competed in basketball and volleyball. It was a friendly competition which let students of different ages get acquainted with each other and share their program ideas!
Day IV (June, 7)
My students are so active and sometimes I see they try to copy my behavior. That's why I can't relax at work even with my lovely OLE-students. It's great I can help them to be better and to understand they're so happy to have what they have now and to live how they live now. We've already discussed the major part of Children's Rights Convention. My students wanted to know if the problem of children's right topical or not in their own country. They prepared some questions (3-5) and went out of the school in order to ask passers-by about the problem. So students spent half of the day making interviews. There were 5 groups of 3-4 students and they interviewed 20 people per each group! So generally there were nearly 100 peaople who asked all my students' questions. They found out: 100% - didn't know about the date of Convention foundation 100% - didn't know about the number of the convention paragraphs 90% - knew about some (5-7) Convention ideas 100%- were sure of Convention necessity 100% - knew it's an international document 100% - wanted to know more about Convention. So, we understood our work and our program would be important!
Day III (June, 6)
That day was so active. Youth leaders met with lots of students, teachers and parents. They told about Children's Rights and made a plan of a general adult-children collaboration in a field of Children's Rights protection.
Day II (June, 5)
Day I (June, 4)
The first day wasn't so hard. A team of 5th grade students chose some articles from Children's Rights Convention and made ppts about them. I let my students take just those article they could explain their friends without teachers' help, that's why just SOME articles were chosen for the first days duscussings in our camp. First of all Convention parts were discussed in Russian and just then 11-12 year old students started working with English presentation of their own ideas. They want to share them not just with Russian peer but with their friends around the world!
June, 1 was a start of Russian camp. We met together and discussed Children's Rights we would speak about next week. OLE-club youth leaders made a plan of next week activities in order to introduce special ideas of peace and friendship to their peers.
I'm so proud of my hardworking students!
